Website audits in general
What is a website audit tool?
A website audit tool evaluates selected areas of a website and reports potential issues or opportunities for improvement. Depending on the platform, it may assess functionality, security, performance, accessibility and mobile usability.
What does the Provelex website audit tool check?
Provelex assesses functionality, security, performance, accessibility and mobile usability. The exact checks and pages covered may depend on the assessment configuration.
Can Provelex identify website security issues?
Provelex includes security-related checks that can identify potential weaknesses and configuration issues. Findings should be reviewed and validated by an appropriately qualified technical or security professional.
Can I use Provelex for website performance testing?
Provelex includes performance-related assessment checks that can help identify areas for further investigation. For detailed performance measurement, combine these findings with dedicated performance testing tools.
Does website auditing improve SEO?
Website auditing can help identify technical and usability issues that may affect the website experience. Improving performance, accessibility and functionality can support overall website quality. However, an audit alone does not guarantee higher search rankings.
Does automated website testing replace manual testing?
No. Automated testing can identify potential issues and organize findings, but manual testing remains important for evaluating complex user journeys, accessibility and security.
What does the Provelex website quality score mean?
The Provelex dashboard displays a score out of 100 as a high-level summary of an assessment. Reviewing individual findings is important because the score alone does not explain every reported issue.
How can I improve my website audit results?
Start by reviewing the assessment findings. Confirm the reported issues, prioritize them according to their potential impact, implement appropriate fixes and run another assessment to review the changes.
How often should I audit my website?
The frequency depends on your website’s size, complexity and update schedule. Consider running assessments after major changes and including them in your regular website maintenance routine.
Running an assessment
Do I need an account?
Not for the free tools. The Basic assessment and the speed test need no account. Intermediate and Advanced assessments and guided sessions need one, because they use credits and keep your results.
How many pages does an assessment cover?
A Basic assessment reads up to three pages: the address you enter and up to two pages it links to on the same site. Intermediate and Advanced assessments explore up to 25 pages. A report lists the pages it actually covered.
Can Provelex test pages behind a login?
Yes, on Intermediate and Advanced assessments, if you add a login for the application. Use a test account with test data where you can, because pages seen after signing in can be sent to the AI model doing the assessment.
What am I confirming when I add a website?
That you own it, or that its owner has authorised you to test it. You can sign a declaration, add a DNS record or publish a small file on the site. The report states which method was used. Testing a site without permission is against our Acceptable Use Policy and is unlawful in most countries.
Could an assessment harm my website?
Basic assessments only read pages the way a browser does. Intermediate assessments use your site like a person would, which can include submitting forms, so point them at a test environment when you can. Advanced probes send harmless detection markers, are limited to 120 requests, are spaced apart and use only GET and POST requests. No test is risk free, so tell whoever runs the site before you start.
Reports and scores
Can I share a report?
You can download a report as a PDF and send it to whoever needs it. You can also publish a score link or badge, which shows how many findings there are and how severe, but never their details. You can withdraw a shared link at any time.
How long are my results kept?
Basic assessment results are deleted after 30 minutes and speed test results after 24 hours. Results in an account stay until you ask us to delete them. The Privacy Policy has the full list.
Why did my score change when my site did not?
Different levels run different checks, so compare a run with one at the same level. Measurements such as loading speed also vary from one run to the next, and AI-driven tests will not take exactly the same path each time.
Credits and payment
Is there a subscription?
No. You buy credits when you need them, and there is nothing to cancel.
Do credits expire?
Credits in your balance have no expiry date. A voucher code may have its own closing date.
What happens to my credits if a run fails?
A run that fails without producing a report returns its credits in full, automatically. If you stop a run before it has delivered any finding, the credits are returned as well. Once it has delivered findings, the charge stands.
Why is the price different in India?
Prices are set per region and follow the country on your account. The exact price for your account is shown before each run.
